“Awesome” Clothing Package for Team Canada thanks to RMP Athletic Locker Ltd.

DOUGLAS, ISLE OF MAN (September 8, 2011) – When Team Canada walks into the Opening Ceremony at the Commonwealth Youth Games on the Isle of Man later today, the athletes and coaches will be showcasing an exciting new partnership between Commonwealth Games Canada (CGC) and R.M.P. Athletic Locker Ltd.

“We’ve come to these Games with a phenomenal team of athletes and coaches, and R.M.P. Athletic Locker has put together an awesome clothing package for the Canadian team,” said Scott Stevenson, CGC’s Director of Sport, who is overseeing all aspects of Team Canada’s experience at the Youth Games this week. “They’ve gone to such great lengths to really understand the needs of our athletes and to create clothing that’s comfortable and practical, and that these athletes will be proud to wear at the Games, and well after the competition is over.”

“This partnership with the Commonwealth Games is such a great fit for us,” added Mike Dyon, co-founder of R.M.P. Athletic Locker, and a top ten finisher for Canada in the marathon at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia. “We’re already outfitting the Rugby 7’s squad with their competitive gear through our KooGa line, so it seemed like a natural next step to provide an overall Team Canada package for everyone who’s competing and coaching.”

Athletes aged 14 to 18 from almost 70 nations will compete in the IV Commonwealth Youth Games from September 9th to 11th. Canadian athletes will compete in six sports: Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Men’s Gymnastics and Rugby 7’s. Follow their progress at www.commonwealthgames.ca/games/isleofman.
