Sparkling bronze for Roseline Filion at diving World Series

DUBAI – Roseline Filion put together a powerful finish to emerge with the bronze medal on women’s 10-metre tower on Saturday to conclude the second stop on the FINA World Series diving circuit.

Huixia Liu continued China’s dominance on the circuit with 400.70 points. Pandelela Rinong Pamg of Malaysia was second at 358.75 edging Filion in third at 355.20. Meaghan Benfeito of Montreal took fourth spot at 335.80.

Filion was in fifth place after two of five rounds in the final before nailing in succession her inward dive for 8.0’s, her armstand dive for 7.5’s and her twisting dive for 8.0’s to zoom up the standings.

Benfeito put her medal hopes in peril when she scored poorly on her backward dive in the third round. She still had shot for bronze on her final twister but just scored slightly lower than her compatriot.

The next stop on the circuit is April 25-27 in London.
